I started in business at the age of 18, and I’ve survived nearly 14 years so far despite the twists and turns that come with running your own business.

I started a leaflet distribution business that got kiboshed by the impact of regional flooding in 2014. I had to build myself back up from scratch, taking freelance opportunities with marketing, website and digital agencies while at the same time developing a team to support my own projects, as well as those of the agencies I worked with.

As someone who lives in a remote area, who has endometriosis and anxiety, and is quite introverted, my agency work was starting to get me down and my main marketing method (business networking) was not feasible. Combined with the business sale of my main client leading to me becoming a part time flexi home-based employee at their new company, I’ve been thinking of what I could do instead. My agency work is in “maintenance mode” where I still look after clients I have had for years, and I still have a cosy team alongside me.

I decided on running virtual events when I saw a gap in the online world. Done for you and 121 service providers like myself can find it very difficult to take part in summits, bundles and other events that often focus on high numbers, when in reality we don’t need high numbers for ourselves. So then I started thinking about events where similar people could take part and benefit from the collaborative nature that focuses on quality not quantity.
